Our primary care services cover a range of prevention, wellness, and treatment for common illnesses. Our primary care providers include doctors, nurses, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants. They develop long-term relationships with our patients and advise and treat them on a range of health-related issues.

How often should you see your primary care physician?  In general for both men and women, if you are in basically good health and under the age of 50, it is recommended you see your PCP every three years for a checkup. After age 50, see your doctor once a year.

Our Primary Care Procedures

Medical Screening

Screening, in medicine, is a strategy used to look for as-yet-unrecognised conditions or risk markers. This testing can be applied to individuals or to a whole population.

Initial Visit

Primary care doctors are experts at treating a broad range of health problems. The initial visit will include a breakdown of your medical history. This will include questions about any previous diagnosis, existing conditions or disease, surgical operations, tests, and health screenings you’ve had previously. Your physician will need a full list of medications you are taking, including vitamins and over-the-counter medicine, as well as the dosage and the frequency with which you take these medications. After an assessment, and physical exam, more tests may be ordered to get a baseline of your current health status.

Routine Care

Routine care is regular health care. It includes preventive care, also called wellness or well care. It helps you stay healthy and helps keep you from getting sick. Preventive care includes regular checkups and health education and counseling. Primary care providers usually check your heart rate and blood pressure as well as complete a visual exam of your body to search for any warning signs of health problems. Depending on the results of the exam and any lifestyle factors or medical history, they may perform other tests as well.

Annual Checkup

An annual checkup visit (also called annual physical) is a preventive care visit focused on detecting health conditions before they appear. You can discuss any doubts or questions on your health, and receive health advice from your primary care provider.

Sick Visit

Sick visits are visits to your physician that you schedule in order to address new or worsening symptoms or health complications. Typically, you schedule a sick visit to address an acute condition or injury.

Follow Up Visit

most follow-up visits after discharge are just a check up to see how the patient is doing and ensure there aren’t any complications. It’s also a great time to talk to a primary care provider about anything else or ask questions, especially if it’s been a while since the last appointment

Lab Tests and Referrals

Depending on age, medical condition, family history and recent complaints, your primary care physician can order the following tests, to name a few:

  • Complete blood count (CBC)
  • Comprehensive metabolic panel (CMP)
  • Hemoglobin A1C (HbA1C)
  • Standard lipid panel
  • Thyroid test.
  • Prostate screening (PSA)
  • Vitamin D.
  • Anemia panel.

If the patient is symptomatic, tests for Influenza, COVID-19, RSV, Strep can also be performed in office.   When needed, your primary care physician can submit a referral in the patient’s behalf, to see a specialist for a specific medical service.
